Mara’s Whimsy Mobil

I've been an aunt since I was nine years old. My first niece is called Mara.This mobile is named after her. And the first one I made left Amsterdam as a gift for a new baby Mara, which felt like exactly the right way to begin.

A hot air balloon in soft stripes of lavender, grey, and cream drifts from a natural wooden hoop — patient, unhurried, going somewhere. Four clouds float alongside: two trailing gentle drops of purple, two simply drifting, the way the best clouds do. Something to look up at in those early weeks, and long after.

The yarn is Oeko-Tex certified cotton — nothing in it that shouldn't be above a baby you love.
