Bear Rattle

Some toys are for playing with. Others a baby simply wants nearby. This bear is the second kind.

It’s a rattle, technically — but really it’s a first companion. The sound is barely there, a gentle shush you have to go looking for, soft enough not to startle a baby still learning the world is a calm place. The kind of friend that gets held more than it gets shaken.

A round-eared bear with a settled, sleeping face, worked in warm brown with a striped band at the legs — rose and cream, or sage and white. At around 13 cm, it fits in one hand and goes where the baby goes. The yarn is Oeko-Tex certified cotton throughout — nothing in it that shouldn’t be near a baby you love.

And on one leg, a small embroidered tulip. The detail a child finds later — the quiet signature stitched into every one.
